Park Description:

This is a rather small linear park located along Lenox Road in the Morningside-Lenox Park neighborhood of the City of Atlanta. The park's primary amenities are 2 tennis courts, a wooden playscape, a reasonably large greenspace (large enough for frisbee or a possibly a pick-up softball game (bring your own bases), and a few picnic tables and benches. The park is wooded and has no surfaced paths. It's a bit overgrown and a haven for urban wildlife. There are also several drainage culverts and ditches that traverse the park and pose safety issues for children who are not closely supervised. The park connects to Sussex Park along its southern border.

Amenities:

Tennis courts (2); picnic tables and benches; playscape; greenspace

Accessibility:

To access the park from the small parking lot, you must cross a raised bridge that is not wheelchair accessible (see photo). There is no paved pathway between park amenities, making it virtually inaccessible to people in wheelchairs or with major motor disabilities. There are no accommodations for the visually impaired.

Aesthetics:

This is a relatively small park set on land unsuitable for building. It is quite wooded and makes a restful, naturalistic greenspace.

Pet Appeal:

The greenspace at the southern end of the park is an acceptable place to exercise dogs, but remember Atlanta laws require dogowners to keep their dogs leashed and under their control while in City parks (or on the street), and to clean up after their dogs, so don't forget your baggie! +

Playground Equipment:

Large wooden playscape (see photo)

Additional Information:

This park is located in a drainage area. There are several drainage culverts and ditches running through it. Do not leave children unattended. In addition to the danger of climbing on slippery rocks, this park's ample sources of water and cover provide a very attractive habitat for urban wildlife, including snakes and rats.
